Buying votes, members or boost for your server: why real players pay off more

June 22, 2026 · 7 min read

Almost every game community ends up paying for some kind of boost: votes on Minecraft, members on Discord, visits or CCU on Roblox, or boost to climb the server lists. They all share the same promise (more visibility) and the same limitation (they don't bring real activity). Let's look at each case.

Minecraft: buying votes

Votes push your server up the rankings, but a vote doesn't connect or play. Your counter stays at 0/100 when a real player arrives, and that counter is the first thing they check before joining. With real players you raise the number that actually converts, and they can genuinely vote and review you too.

Discord: buying members

Buying members inflates the counter, but a server with thousands of silent accounts is as dead as an empty one, and it risks penalties. What brings a Discord to life is participation: messages, voice and event attendance. You don't buy that by the number; you earn it with real people.

Roblox: buying visits or CCU

Inflating visits or CCU with bots can clash with Roblox's rules and worsen your average retention, the very metric the algorithm rewards. Real players who meet a minimum playtime improve CCU and retention without putting your experience at risk.

Rust, ARK, DayZ, CS2...: buying boost

Boost on lists like BattleMetrics lifts your rank, but real population is what retains. In Rust, for example, if your server is empty on wipe day, the whole week suffers. Securing real players at the key moment changes the outcome.

The common denominator: verified real activity

  • A fake number masks; real activity converts and retains.
  • BoostLobby verifies in-game presence (players.json, status API, BattleMetrics) and requires a minimum time.
  • Device, IP and reputation anti-fraud, plus escrow payment: you only pay for what's real.
  • And since online players also feed the rankings, you get visibility and community at once.

If you were going to invest in lifting your server anyway, invest it in what actually fills it. Publish a campaign on BoostLobby and get real players for your game.
