How to get players for your FiveM server (2026 guide)

June 10, 2026 · 7 min read

Setting up a FiveM server is the easy part. The hard part is the cold start: nobody wants to be the only one online, so newcomers join, see an empty server and leave. This guide shows you how to break that cycle and bring real players to your GTA V RP server.

1. Prepare the server before promoting it

Before spending a single euro on attracting people, make sure the first impression is good. A server with solid performance, clear rules and easy onboarding retains far better.

  • Optimize resources and remove scripts that cause lag.
  • Keep a tidy Discord with an access guide and rules.
  • Create an event or opening storyline for the first days.

2. Concentrate activity into time windows

It's better to have 30 players for 2 hours than 5 players all day long. Concentrate your community during peak hours so there's always a buzz when someone drops in to try the server.

3. Kick-start it with real activity

This is where BoostLobby helps: you publish a campaign, set the reward per player, and real, verified players show up, role-play and take part in your opening events. We verify in-game presence by reading players.json, so you only pay for real activity.

  • Schedule the campaign for your launch night or a special event.
  • Set a minimum participation time to ensure immersion.
  • Pair the campaign with content (clips) to amplify your reach.

4. Retain with community, not just events

The initial boost gives you critical mass; community gives you retention. Recognize active players, listen to feedback and keep an event calendar. Activity attracts activity.
